Tim Giagios has been named the head coach of the Alfred State track & field and cross country program. He will also continue to serve as the Pioneers strength and conditioning coach.
During his first full year at Alfred State, Giagios led the Pioneers women's outdoor track & field to the CSAC Championship while the men's team finished 2nd. Giagios was named the AMCC Coach of the Year for his work with the men's cross country team. At the AMCC Championships, both the men's and women's team finished 2nd.
Prior to joining Alfred State, Giagios held coaching positions at Nazareth College (Rochester, NY), SUNY Brockport (Brockport, NY), and Gates Chili High School (Rochester, NY) from 2005-2017.
In college, Giagios was a scholarship athlete on the Track & Field team at the University at Buffalo from 2000-2003. He finished his collegiate career at Buffalo State College (2003-2005) where he was a two-time individual conference champion, and six-time All-Conference selection in Track & Field. Off the Track, he was the Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, a SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award recipient, and graduated with the Buffalo State Student-Athlete Top Honor.
Giagios is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS) and also holds as USA Track & Field Level 1 Coaching certification. He has a B.S. from Buffalo State College in Health & Wellness, with a concentration in Adult Fitness, and a Minor in Coaching.
Director of Athletics Jason Doviak is excited to to have join the department on a full-time basis. "Tim's experience as a track & field student-athlete and coach prepared him very well for this role. He brings passion and enthusiasm to work every day and our student-athletes have responded well to his training programs. He now has the ability to work with our student-athletes daily and I am eager to see the results."
