Summer Sports Festival - 2015

Alfred State will host the 34th annual Summer Sports Festival and the 47th annual Learn-to-Swim Program starting June 29.  In conjunction with these programs a track & field program and basketball camps will be offered.

The Summer Sports Festival begins on June 29 and runs to July 24.  Camp runs from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center.  Camp includes a totally supervised program of daily instruction in a variety of sports, arts, arts & crafts, and recreation, in addition to a daily free swim period each afternoon.

Campers can register for the whole camp or two weeks of the camp (Plan A runs from June 29 - July 10 and Plan B runs from July 13 - July 24).  To attend all four weeks of camp the cost is $180 while two weeks is $120.

The Learn-To-Swim program features lessons for children ages two and up.  Classes are offered in three ways: Typical (3 to 5 students per instructor), Special (2 students per instructor), or Private (1 student per instructor).  Prices range from $80 to $170 depending on the type of lesson and the number of weeks of lessons.

Track & field coach Gary Moore will once again coach the local track & field club for ages 7 and up. Practices will be on Monday and Friday with competition on Wednesday evenings.  The cost to participate is $30.

Basketball coach Jerry Jusicaniec will offer two camps.  Gym Rats, for ages 4 - 9, will take place July 13 -16 from 2:15 - 4:45 p.m. for $60.  Skills Camp, for ages 10 - 16, will run from August 10 - 12 om 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. for $110.  Each camper will receive a water bottle, a t-shirt, and a basketball with their registration fee.
