Baseball: 0-11

The baseball team spent spring break competing at the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Thomas Shofi (Carmel) led the Pioneers with a .480 batting average (12 for 25). He collected two doubles, a triple, a homer, and four RBI. Andy Pichardo (Corona/Academy of American Studies) hit .423 with a team high 5 RBI and Robert Cardona (Harlem/All Hallows) hit .409.

Kyle Kuzma (Waverly) came out of the bullpen four times and tossed 10.2 innings. He recorded a 4.22 ERA while striking out six.

The Pioneers are slated to open up the Northern part of their schedule this week.

Lacrosse: 2-4

The blue & gold fell in both of their contests in North Carolina during their spring break trip. They fell 20-5 at Methodist and 18-4 at Greensboro.

Joe Johnson (Churchville) recorded a hat trick vs. Greensboro while Ryan Colgan (Warwick Valley) netted two goals. Patrick Matkoski (West Genesee) passed out a team high three assists. Tyler Cook (Corning East) led the team with eight ground balls.

Softball: 3-9

The Lady Pioneers spent spring break competing at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, FL. 

Allison Gibson (Arkport) led the team with a .441 (15 for 34) batting average. Amanda Rockefeller (Bolivar Richburg) hit .406 on the week and Lura O'Keefe (Allegany Limestone) led the team with 9 RBI. On the mound, Tonia Tinker (Alfred Almond) tossed 50.2 innings and earned her first collegiate victory.

The team open play up North next week. 

Outdoor Track & Field: 

The track & field team opened up the outdoor season with strong showing at the Juniata Invitational. Victoire Kothor (Greece Odyssey) was a triple-winner to lead the Pioneers.

Kothor set new Alfred State records in winning the hammer throw (49.96 m) and the shot put (13.45 m). She also won the discus toss with a throw of 36.04. Teammate Haley Anderson (Lyndonville) finished 5th in the same events. She recorded tosses of 9.70 m in the shot, 33.26 m in the hammer, and 31.10 m in the discus.

Keith Johnson (Webster Thomas) also won an individual title in the 3,000 crossing the finish line in 9:05.35. Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 2nd in the steeplechase (10:10.09), Joe Richardson (Geneva) was 3rd in the triple jump (12.52 m), and Zach Curran (Williamson) was 5th in the pole vault (3.95 m).Timothy Coburn (Dansville) was 9th in the shot put (11.97).

Angel Bresnahan (Mexico) was 4th in the long jump (4.86 m.). She also teamed with Maddi McDonald (Lansing), Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls), and Brianna Byrnes (Jordan Elbridge) to earn a 5th place finish in the 4x100 (53.42). Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) was 6th in the 5,000 (20:04.72) while Byrnes earned a 7th place finish in the 800 (2:35.67).
