Baseball: 13-22

The baseball team split six games this week. They defeated Fredonia 8-3, Elmira 8-7, fell 11-8 and 8-4 vs. Penn State Behrend, and split a pair with Medaille (W 6-5 & L 17-9).

Cullen Franz (Cazenovia) had a big week finishing 11 for 24 with 4 RBI and Rafael Perozo (Bronx/St. Raymond) hit. 417 with seven RBI. Jesse Swan (Campbell Savona) was 4 for 8 with 3 RBI and David Zuber (Honeoye Falls Lima) was 3 for 6 with a three-run homer.

Brady Sass (Caledonia Mumford) was 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA in 12 innings of work. Kyle Kuzma (Waverly) ad Jake Remington (Letchworth) also picked up victories.

Lacrosse: 5-11

The lacrosse team closed out the 2016 season with a decisive 18-10 victory over Medaille. The Pioneers outscored the Mavericks 10-3 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Aaron Buck (Churchville) finished the day with nine goals and three assists. In the last three games of the season, Buck has recorded 34 points. Joe Johnson (Churchville) finished with three goals and three assists, Josh Aviles (Middletown) netted two goals, and Kyle Hoke (Tully) passed out three assists. Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) made 10 saves in net for the Pioneers in the first 45 minutes to earn the victory.

Softball: 5-30

The Lady Pioneers wrapped up the season with six games this past week. Lura O'Keefe (Allegany Limestone) led the team with a .500 batting average (7 for 14) and six RBI. Stormi Kruger (Medina) hit .368 with three triples, and Katie Jackson (Troy, PA) hit .316. 

The Pioneers fell 28-12 and 17-11 at Medaille, 7-2 and 3-2 at Houghton, and 6-2 and 12-3 in their home finale vs. Hilbert.

Outdoor Track & Field: Women - 15th in Region & 98th Nationally, Men: 29th in Region

The Alfred State track and field team had a solid day at the USCAA Invitational held at SUNY Delhi on Saturday. The women scored 105.5 points to earn 4th place overall. They trailed only Berea in the USCAA competition. The men scored 127 points to earn 6th overall. They were the 3rd in the USCAA competition.

Victoire Kothor (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) was a triple winner for the Lady Pioneers. She won the discus (38.67) and the hammer (46.08) while teammate Haley Anderson (Lyndonville) was 2nd in the discus (31.09) and 2nd in the hammer (36.44). Kothor also won the shot put (12.96 m).

On the men's side the Pioneers had great success in the pole vault and the steeplechase. In the pole vault Zach Curran (Williamson) won with a leap of 4.15 m and Brandon Teboe (Falconer) was 2nd (4.00 m) while in the steeplechase, Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 2nd (10:02.85) and Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 3rd (10:16.61).

At the NYS Multi Championships, Jake Hawley (Susquehanna) was 8th while Teboe was 9th in the decathlon. Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) was 13th and recorded the 5th highest point total in the heptathlon.
