Mineti and Hanss Honored by the USCAA

Alfred State freshmen soccer player Melissa Mineti (Livonia) and junior cross country athlete Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) have earned player of the week honors from the USCAA.

Mineti opened up her collegiate career with two solid efforts in Lady Pioneers victories. She netted a hat trick in a 9-0 victory over SUNY Cobleskill and then scored a goal and passed out two assists in a 4-1 win over SUNY Delhi.

Hanss raced to the individual title in the Alfred State Invitational on Friday. He won 5k race in 17:32.04 which was 1:02 faster than any other runner. He also helped the Pioneers to a perfect score of 15 in the team competition.

Alfred State had a solid first week of competition with the athletic teams earning a 6-2 record and winning both the men's and women's title at the Alfred State Cross Country Invitational.
