Honors Continue to Roll in for Mineti and Hanss

Alfred State student-athletes Melissa Minetti (Livonia) and Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) have added another weekly honor. Minetti and Hanss have been named the Association of Division III Independents Players of the Week.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Alfred State freshman forward Melissa Mineti (Livonia, N.Y.) has been named the Association of Division III Independents women's soccer Player of the Week. The freshman started the week with a hat trick against Cobleskill in the Pioneers' season opener on Friday. Mineti concluded the week with a goal and two assists in Alfred State's 4-1 victory at Delhi on Sunday. The forward ended the week with four goals, two assists and ten points on eight shots as the Pioneers began the season with a pair of wins.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Alfred State junior Jacob Hanss (East Rochester, N.Y.) has been chosen as the Association of Division III Independents men's cross country Runner of the Week. Hanss won the Alfred State Invitational on Friday by 1:02 with a 5-kilometer time of 17:32.04. The performance by Hanss helped lead the Pioneers to a perfect score in their season-opening meet. 

This is the first season that Alfred State has been a member of the Association of Division III Independents. The association has 13 members nationwide and sponsors a robust awards system for the the nine sports it sponsors. For more information about the association visit: www.d3independents.org
