Cross Country:

The Alfred State cross country team traveled to Oberlin, OH to compete in the Inter-Regional Rumble. The Pioneers were one of 32 teams in the competition.

The Lady Pioneers finished 26th out of 29 teams that scored in the women's race. Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) led the way with a 75th place finish in the 6k race. She crossed the finish line in 23:34.2. Emily Brigman (Lancaster) was 205th (26:29.7) while Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) was 214th (27:15.0). 

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) led the men in the 8k race featuring 278 runners with a 84th place finish. He completed the course in 26:29.6. Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 171th (27:36.2) while  Kyle Glaub (West Seneca East) was 198th (28:09.2). 

Football: 0-7

The football team couldn't make enough big plays as Buffalo State defeated the Pioneers 27-0 in front of a large homecoming crowd at Pioneer Stadium.

Dashon Turner (West Genesee) finished with 104 yards passing, Luke Nourse (Dolgeville) led the passing core with 66 yards on two catches, and Hezekiah Williamson (Albany) rushed for 40 yards. The Pioneers gained only 169 yards on the day and earned seven first downs.

Steven Hubick (Fountain Hills, AZ) led the defense with 15 tackles while Brandon Davis (Lansing) finished with 10. Jhamel Cohen (Brooklyn/South Shore) had eight tackles and an interception and Ke'Shawn Pettway (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) recorded seven solo tackles. Justin Bocchino (Hyde Park) also had an interception and a 62-yard return.

Men's Soccer: 4-10

The men's soccer team struggled offensively this week and fell in all three of their matches. They fell 3-0 at Nazareth, 5-0 at Penn State Behrend, and 3-0 vs. SUNY ESF.

Brandon Holley (Livonia) led the team with 11 shots while Jacob Bartz (West Seneca) made 19 saves in over 240 minutes of action.

Women's Soccer: 6-6, ranked T#8 in USCAA poll

Allison Danielak (Brockport) made 12 saves, including numerous point blank opportunities, in the women's soccer teams 1-0 overtime loss to SUNY ESF in their only action of the week.

Alfred State and ESF battled back and forth for over 96 minutes (96:47) until Anna Bishop was able to sneak a shot into the far corner of the net after getting a crossing pass from Heather Carl.

Swimming: 

The Pioneers opened up their season with the 2nd annual Blue & Gold Invitational. The women's team opens up the season on Friday at Franciscan while both the men and women compete at home on Saturday vs. Penn State Altoona.

Volleyball: 18-2, ranked T#3 in USCAA Poll

The Lady Pioneers were a perfect 4-0 this weekend as they played in the Alfred State Tournament. They defeated Maine Fort Kent 3-1 and Hilbert 3-0 on Friday afternoon as they opened up play at home and then defeated Pitt Bradford 3-0 and Morrisville 3-1 at Alfred University on Saturday.

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) led the way with 35 kills and 59 digs while Jessica Padley (Buffalo/Sweet Home) had a big weekend with 34 kills and 37 digs. The Ellicottville trio of Madison Szpaicher (133 assists, 12 aces, and 57 digs), Janae Hamilton (31 kills and 18 blocks), and Grace Hall (15 kills and 13 blocks) continued to play well. 

Madison Webster (Corning) continued to impress with her defensive play. She racked up 92 digs while Valerie Intini (Eastridge) added 38.

The blue & gold hit .243 on the weekend and served 42 aces compared to their opponents 15.
