von Hagn and Galton Named Garcia's Athletes of the Week

Rachel von Hagn (Bath) and Mike Galton (Warsaw) have been named the Alfred State Garcia's Barbershop Top Cut Athletes of the Week. The pair helped their teams to impressive finishes at postseason events.

von Hagn was the Hi-point rider for novice horsemanship at the IHSA Zone 2 Region I Championships and is one of three members of the Western Equesterian team that will travel to the IHSA Western Semi-Finals on March 17-18 at the Showplex at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. She also helped the team to Reserve Hi-Point honors in the event.

Galton was 3-0 as he claimed the title at 157 lbs. at the NCWA North East Conference Championships. He pinned Andrew Gomez (Rhode Island) in 41 seconds, defeated Jacob Cincotta (UMASS) 10-2 in the semis, and earned a 9-5 victory over Josh Fontanez (Springfield Tech) in the finals. Galton helped the Pioneers to a 2nd place finish at the tournament and is one of seven wrestlers to qualify for the NCWA National Championships.
