Team Updates

Baseball: 3-11

The Pioneers finished the Florida portion of their spring break trip with a 3-5 record. They earned a 6-2 victory over Newbury, a 11-3 win over Skidmore, and a 5-0 shutout of Lakeland.

Nick Geyer (Newburgh Free Academy) led the offense with a .381 batting average (8 for 21) while Connor Pingitore (Amsterdam/Broadalbin-Perth) hit .375 (12 for 32) with a team high six RBI. David Zuber (Honeoye Falls Lima) collected four doubles and had five RBI.

On the mound, Angel Victorino (Inwood/Harvest Collegiate), Garrett Mack (Avon), and Jarrod Deaton (Newburgh Free Academy) earned victories. Victorino struck out nine in a complete game victory while allowing just two earned runs while Mack struck out six and allowed three earned runs in his victory. Deaton combined with Jake Miller (Bethlehem, PA) and Connor Hong (Gates Chili) in the shutout of Lakeland.

Lacrosse: 1-4

The lacrosse team fell in both of their contests this past week, 17-2 at Farmingdale and 14-8 vs. SUNY Poly.

Branden Dickson (Bath Haverling) and Eric Passeck (Thomaston, CT) led the team with a pair of goals and an assist while Cole Reuben (Akron) and Joe Johnson (Churchville) scored twice each. Matt Cobb (Churchville) made 23 saves in net in 104 minutes of action.

Softball: 0-11

The blue & gold were unable to pick up a victory as they continued play at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Zoe Derr (Elmira Heights/Thomas Edison) led the team with a .353 batting average (6 for 17) while Kyle DeWilde (Midlakes) hit .286. Ashley Peterson (Valley Central) led the team with two RBI.

Western Equestrian: Beardsley and Castoro advance to National Championships

The trio of Alyssa Beardsley (Letchworth), Meagan Castoro (Syosset), and Rachel von Hagn (Haverling) had a strong showing at the Western Semi-Final Championships held at the Showplex at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. The performances of Beardsley and Castoro earned them a spot at the IHSA National Championships.

Beardsley won the competition in the individual advanced horsemanship category while Castoro was 3rd in the individual beginner horsemanship field. von Hagn earned 6th place in the individual novice horsemanship competition. The field at the Western Semi-Final included teams from Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Iowa, California, Arizona, Washington and Oregon.

Beardsley and Castoro will travel to the IHSA National Championships in Harrisburg, PA. The event will be held May 3 - 6 at the Pennsylvania Show Complex.
