Wittmeyer and Laurie Earn AMCC Sportmanship Team Honors

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference has honored senior lacrosse player Joe Wittmeyer (Hamburg) and freshmen baseball player Josh Laurie (LeRoy) with AMCC Sportsmanship team honors.

Wittmeyer completed his four-year career at Alfred State this spring and helped the Pioneers to their second straight appearance in the AMCC Showcase finals. He moved from his customary position of midfield to long stick defense this season and became a key contributor to the defensive unit in front of All-AMCC goalkeeper Matt Cobb. He started in all 16 games and recorded one assist to go along with 30 ground balls and 18 forced turnovers. For his career he saw action in 60 games and recorded 13 points, picked up 142 ground balls, and forced 51 turnovers.

Laurie appeared in all 39 games for the Pioneers this season. He collected 32 hits (seven doubles, one triple, and one homer), drove in 10 and scored 19 runs during his freshmen campaign.
