Webster and Long Named Athletes of the Week
Madison Webster (Corning) and Jalen Long (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Webster helped the Pioneer volleyball team to a 2-0 week. In a 3-0 victory over Cazenovia on Friday, she recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs. In the home opener on Sunday, a 3-1 victory over Maine Fort Kent, she posted another double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs. Webster, a senior, has transitioned from her libero position to an outside hitter position.
Long had a big day receiving for the Pioneers as they tangled with UMass Dartmouth. Long caught nine passes for 173 yards and a score. His touchdown catch was a 32-yard play in the 4th quarter. This was his first 100-yard receiving game of his Alfred State career.
