Cross Country: Men 13th, Women 15th at Roberts Wesleyan
The men's cross country team finished 13th while the women finished 15th at the Roberts Wesleyan Harry Anderson Invitational.
Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) led the blue & gold with a 35th place finish. He crossed the finish line of the 8k course in 27:33.6. Ryan Lohr (West Seneca West) was 82nd (28:28.3) and Matthew Connolly (Elmira Notre Dame) was 92nd (28:47.6). The blue & gold had a score of 343 and finished ahead of Hobart, D'Youville, Onondaga CC, Morrisville, Hilbert, Medaille, Villa Maria, and Davis College.
Veronica Dailey (Addison) and Julia Russell (Prattsburgh) finished the 5k course in under 20 minutes on Saturday. Dailey finished 41st overall in 19:57.4 while Russell was 42nd in 19:59.2. Both runners averaged 6:26 per mile. Alfred State finished 15th out of 18 teams with 388 points.
Football: 0-4
Alfred State fell 43-7 at Nichols in their final non-conference game of the season.
Darrius Nichols (Brooklyn/South Shore) connected with Jacey Jakubczak (East Aurora) on a five-yard pass play in the 3rd quarter for the lone Pioneer points.
Kiegan Brown (Cortland) led the Pioneers with 81 yards rushing on 18 carries while Ronnie Clark (Philadelphia/Indian River) rushed for 61 yards on 19 carries. 106 of the Pioneers 182 total yards came on the ground. John Lauretti (Seaford) had six tackles while Kyle Backert (Lancaster) and Brandon Davis (Lansing) each had five tackles.
Men's Soccer: 1-5-1
Alfred State and SUNY Poly battled for 110 minutes and played to a 2-2 tie in the only action this week for the Pioneers.
Albert Senyah (Long Island/Central Islip) and Justus Hoffmann (Hamburg) scored for the Pioneers in the contest. Hoffmann was also credited with the assist on Senya's goal. Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) made four saves in 110 minutes.
Women's Soccer: 3-2-2
Volleyball: 6-4
The volleyball team swept a pair of matches at the Valley Forge tri-match on Saturday afternoon. They improved to 6-4 on the season with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 victory over the hosts and then defeated Rosemont College 26-24, 25-9, 25-20.
15 service aces were key for Alfred State in their sweep of Valley Forge in a match that featured runs by each team. Mya VanDuyne (Newark) and Alyssa Martin (Portville) both collected four service aces. Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) had 11 kills, Madison Webster (Corning) collected 16 digs and six kills, and Sarah Raichlin (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) passed out 24 assist and had six digs.
Versus Rosemont, the blue & gold collected 15 more service aces. Perkins led the team with nine kills while Webster finished with eight kills and 11 digs. Jordan Stauffeneker (Lansing) had 10 digs and four service aces, Raichlin passed out 26 assists, and VanDuyne chipped in seven kills.
