Cross Country: 

The cross country teams passed their final tune ups prior to the ACAA Championships next week. The Pioneers finished 2nd out of three teams in a 5k held at Alfred State.

Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) led the men with a 8th place finish. He averaged 5:37 per mile and crossed the finish line in 17:28. Austin Demberg (Westtown/Minisink Valley) finished 12th (17:42) and Ryan Lohr (West Seneca West) was 15th (17:58). 

Veronica Dailey (Addison) led the way for the women's with a 2nd place finish. She finished the course in 20:35 and was just two seconds behind the race winner Alex Carpenter from RIT. Julia Russell (Candor) was two seconds behind Dailey and finished 3rd (20:35).

The team heads to Delhi on Saturday to compete in the ACAA Championships.

Football: 0-7

The blue & gold had the week off and begin the final stretch of the season this week when they travel to Washington DC to take on Gallaudet.

Men's Soccer: 3-10-2

The Pioneers fell twice in a pair of 2-0 contests. Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) made eight saves in a home contest vs. Geneva and then made four saves in a road contest at Houghton.

The blue & gold wrap up their season this week with a pair of home matches, Tuesday vs. Pitt Bradford and Thursday vs. Hilbert.

Women's Soccer: 10-2-2

The women's soccer team ran their winning streak to seven with a pair of victories. The Pioneers defeated Christendom 9-0 and Penn State Hazleton 4-0.

Jessica Williams (Belfast) netted a hat trick as seven different Pioneers scored in the victory over Christendom. Williams finished with three goals and an assist while Michayla Salatel (Geneseo), Kelsey Austin (Hornell), Maggie Meyer (Red Creek), and Carissa Pompa (Rochester/Mercy) each had a goal and an assist. Melissa Mineti (Livonia) and Dannielle O'Buckley (Jamaica/Ansbach) also scored while Angela Martone (Candor), Althea Prime (Cherry Valley Springfield) and Masyn Hynes (York) all picked up assists. In net, Kathryn Parsons (York) recorded the shutout with a pair of saves.

Meyer scored two first half goals to pace the Pioneers at Hazleton. Salatel and O'Buckley scored a pair of insurance goals late in the 2nd half. Martone, Abby King (Holland), and Olivia Welton (Orchard Park) were all credited with assists while Madison Papaj (Holley) made three saves in the shutout.

The Pioneers have outscored their opponents 31 to 1 during this stretch and are unbeaten in their last nine matches.

Men's Swimming & Diving: 0-1

Ethan Dale (Lock Haven) and Austin Miller (Hornell) led the way as the Alfred State men's swimming and diving team opened up the 2018-19 season. Penn State Behrend took the meet 210-75.

Dale was 2nd in the 100 breast (1:06.40), 2nd in the 200 IM (2:11.60), and was 3rd in the 200 breast (2:27.69) to lead the swimming portion of meet. Miller won the 1 meter diving competition with a score of 218.80 and the 3m competition with 229.65 points,

Women's Swimming & Diving: 1-0

The women's swimming and diving team defeated Penn State Behrend 153-139 as they opened up the 2018-19 season with a big AMCC victory. The Pioneers won the final event the 200 yard freestyle relay to clinch the victory.

Jessie LaRue (Livonia) paced the women's team with three victories in her collegiate debut. She won the 50 free in 25.80, the 100 free in 57.33 and the 200 free in 2:05.28. Her time is the 50 free is a new ASC NCAA era record. She was also part of the winning 200 yard freestyle team that set a new school record in 1:46.33. 

Lauren Earley (Waterford/Shenendehowa) and Kathryn Lewis (Niagara Wheatfield) each earned three 2nd place finishes. Earley was 2nd in the 100 back (1:10.83), 2nd in the 200 back (2:33.55), and 2nd in the 200 IM (2:37.35) while Lewis was 2nd in the 1,000 free (12:12.84), 2nd in the 500 free (5:54.55), and 2nd in the 100 breast (1:18.44).

 

On the diving board, Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) was 1st in the 1 m competition with a score of 197.5 and took top honors in the 3 m competition with 190.90 points.

Volleyball: 7-10
 
The volleyball team fell 3-0 to D'Youville on Saturday afternoon in their lone action of the week. Madison Webster (Corning) led the way for the Pioneers with 13 kills and 14 digs. Sarah Raichlin (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) continued her climb towards 1,000 assists with 30 helpers. Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) added nine kills and 12 digs while Jordan Stauffeneker (Lansing) led the team with 14 digs.
