Meyer and LaRue Named Athletes of the Week

Women's soccer player Maggie Meyer (Red Creek) and swimmer Jessie LaRue (Livonia) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.

Meyer scored in both matches this weekend for the women's soccer team as the Pioneers increased their winning streak to seven games. She scored a goal and passed out an assist in a 9-0 victory over Christendom and then scored the first two goals in a 4-0 victory over Penn State Hazleton. On the year, Meyer is 2nd on the team with 16 points (seven goals and two assists).

LaRue had a very impressive collegiate debut as the Pioneers defeated Penn State Behrend in a AMCC meet. She earned three individual victories by winning the 50 free in 25.80, the 100 free in 57.33 and the 200 free in 2:05.28. Her time is the 50 free is a new ASC NCAA era record. She was also part of the winning and record breaking 200 free relay (1:46.33) that clinched the victory.
