Russell and Lauretti Named Athletes of the Week
Julia Russell (Candor) and John Lauretti (Seaford) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Russell led the Pioneers cross country team as they competed in the NCAA Mideast Regionals. She was the top Alfred State finisher as she ran the 6k course in 24:50 to earn 73rd place. She helped the team to a 34th place over team finish.
Lauretti had a monster afternoon for the football team as they ended the season vs. Castleton. He finished with 16 tackles and was part of five sacks (3.5 sacks). Being part of five sacks tied the most in a single game in Alfred State history (Jonathan Norman - 9/23/2000).
