Pioneers Sweep AMCC Swimming Weekly Awards

The Alfred State swimming & diving team swept the AMCC Weekly Awards following strong performances this weekend. This is the third straight week that a Pioneer has earned AMCC weekly honors.

Kathryn Lewis (Niagara Wheatfield) picked up two individual first place finishes, along with a first place relay finish, while also setting a pool record at the Pioneer Invitational. Lewis won the 1650 free in 20:09.57 and the 500 free in 5:44.39 as the blue & gold raced to a dominating victory. Her time in the 1650 free is a new pool record. She was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team that won in 2:04.79.

Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) swept a pair of diving events by winning the 1m with 304.50 points and the 3m with 282.65 points at the Pioneer Invitational. At the Ithaca Diving Invitational on Sunday, she was 9th in both the 1m (307.00) and the 3m (277.60) competitions. She also won the 200 breast in 2:54.51 at the Pioneer Invitational.

Tim Olin (Pioneer) continued his solid junior season and led the way by winning three individual events as Alfred State won the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday. He won the 100 back in 58.65, the 50 free in 23.23, and the 200 back in 2:14.33. He was also part of the 2nd place 200 medley relay team (1:47.56) and the 2nd place 200 free relay team (1:35.30).

Austin Miller (Hornell) won both the 1m (351.40) and the 3m (392.05) competitions at the Pioneer Invitational and then was 3rd in the 3m (411.30) and 6th in the 1m (354.30) at the Ithaca Diving Invitational.

The Pioneer swimming & diving team will next be in action at the AMCC Championships (Feb. 13-16).
