Baseball: 1-3

The baseball team traveled to Athens, OH and couldn't overcome miscues as they fell 5-3 and 7-2 to Denison on Saturday.

Josh Laurie (LeRoy) was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing with a pair of hits and a RBI. Brody Burdett (Scottsdale, AZ) connected on a solo homer in only at bat. 11 errors and 15 walks slowed down the Pioneers.

Men's Diving:

Sophomore diver Austin Miller (Hornell) competed at the NCAA Division III Region 4 Diving Championships at RIT this past weekend.

Miller scored 390.25 points in his 11-dive program on the 3m board and 331.95 points on the 1m board. He was one of 23 divers that competed in the event. 

Lacrosse: 1-1 

The lacrosse team scored the first three goals of the game as they defeated Wells 12-4 in their home opener. The Pioneers outscored the Express 8-1 after the 1st quarter.

Nic Covelli (Carmel) led the Pioneers with three goals and two assists while Tyler Baker (Rome Free) and Eric Passeck (Thomaston, CT) both recorded hat tricks. Joe Johnson (Churchville) had a goal and an assist while Nathan Crowley (West Irondequoit) finished with a goal, nine ground balls, and 14 wins (14 out of 17) at the face-off circle. Matt Cobb (Churchville) made three saves to record the victory.

Men's Indoor Track & Field: 5th out of 26 teams at ECAC Championships

The men's indoor track & field team finished 5th out of 26 teams at the 2019 ECAC Championships. They scored 44 points in the two-day event held at the Armory in New York City.

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) won the weight throw to lead the Pioneers He had a winning toss of 16.29 m. Jacob Drew (Corning Painted Post) was 4th in the 800 m in 2:02.55 while Michael Allender (Lew-Port) finished 6th in the 60m dash in 7.19.

In the multi, Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) finished 2nd in the heptathlon with 4,029 points. His totals is the 2nd highest in Alfred State history. Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) was 4th with 3,945 points while Tim Berry (Midlakes) was 5th with 3,883 points. Wadsworth was also 6th in the high jump (1.85 m).

Women's Indoor Track & Field: 4th out of 25 teams at ECAC Championships  

The women's indoor track & field team finished 4th out of 25 teams at the ECAC Championships. They scored 43 points in the event.

Emily Brigman (Lancaster) finished 5th in the pentathlon with 2,489 points. She scored 738 points in the 60 hurdles (9.86) and 644 points in the high jump (1.52 m). Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) finished 8th (1,903) and Julia Yanarella (Wappinger Falls/Roy Ketcham) was 9th (1,612).
 
The women's distance medley relay team of Katherine Frascella (Franklinville), Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis), Veronica Dailey (Addison), and Yanarella finished 3rd in 14:45.30. Dailey led five Pioneers who earned points in the 1 mile run. She finished in 6:01.82. Frascella was 3rd (6:28.93), Brigman was 4th (7:14.61), Sly was 5th, and Yanarella was 6th. Dailey also finished 4th in the 3,000 (12:01.88) while Frascella was 7th (13:07.57).
