Varela and Johnson Named Athletes of the Week
Marissa Varela (Egg Harbor Twp, NJ) and Joe Johnson (Churchville) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
Varela had a fast start to the 2019 season. She is 8 for 12 (.667 batting average) with 7 RBI and four runs scored. She collected three hits in a pair of contests (Martin Luther & Curry).
Johnson recorded a hat trick for the first time in the 2019 season as the Pioneers battle Hiram. He scored his third goal with just 1:16 left to knot the game up at 8-8. Johnson has five goals and an assist on the season.
