Baseball: 6-9

The baseball team opened up AMCC play vs. LaRoche and the defending conference champions earned 17-8 and 10-6 victories. In the DH, the Pioneers collected 26 hits, seven for extra bases.

Danny Doran (Irondequoit) had a monster day. He was 4 for 4 with a pair of homers and 4 RBI in the opener and then was 2 for 5 with another RBI in the nightcap. On the day he finished 6 for 9 with 13 total bases and a slugging percentage of 1.444. Colin Johnson (Alfred Almond) was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI in the nightcap and Connor Pingitore (Amsterdam/Broadalbin Perth) was 4 for 5 in the nightcap. Josh Laurie (LeRoy) also collected four hits on the day finishing 4 for 10.

Lacrosse: 3-3

The Pioneers earned a pair of victories this past week to even their record. The defeated Medaille 15-8 and Franciscan 14-4.

Versus Medaille, the Pioneers raced out to a 6-1 lead after one and a 10-3 lead at the half as they dashed past the Mavericks. Joe Johnson (Churchville) led the way with five goals and three assists while Eric Passeck (Thomaston, CT) had three goals and three assists. Matt Cobb (Churchville) made eight of his 12 saves in the game in the 4th quarter.

Another quick start lifted the Pioneers past the Barons on Saturday. The blue & gold scored the first eight goals in the game. Nic Covelli (Carmel) had a big day with six goals and two assists while Johnson had two goals and five helpers. AJ Soto (Churchville) recorded a hat trick. Cobb made eight stops in net.

Softball: 6-6

The Pioneers offense exploded in a sweep at Valley Forge on Saturday. They downed the Patriots 19-1 and 20-1 as they collected 39 hits, eight for extra bases.

Morgan Franklin (Wellsville) led the team with six hits (6 for 10). She had a double, a homer, and drove in five. Arianna Traugott (Elmira) was 5 for 8 with a double, a homer and six RBI. Marissa Varela (Egg Harbor Twp, NJ) was also 5 for 8 with a homer and 7 RBI. Jamie Parente (Mt. Sinai) also collected five hits on the day.

Traugott allowed just two hits and no earned runs in the opener to earn the win while Brittany Fisher (Indianapolis, IN) allowed just one hit and one run in the nightcap to pick up her 4th victory of the season.
