Frascella and Johnson Honored with SUNY Chancellor's Scholar Athlete Award

Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) and Joe Johnson (Churchville Chili) have been named recipients of the 2019 SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award.

The Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award is the highest award given to a student-athlete in the SUNY system. The award recognizes a combination of outstanding academic excellence and superior athletic achievement. In order to be considered for this award, student-athletes were nominated by their athletic director. Nominees then had their academic credentials and athletic accomplishments reviewed by athletic directors across the SUNY system.

Frascella is just wrapping up her sophomore season as a member of the cross country and track & field team. Frascella raced to 2nd team All-ACAA honors with a 13th overall finish at the championship race. She was also recently just named to the Sportsmanship Team by the CSAC. Academically, Frascella holds a 4.0 GPA as a Nursing major.

Johnson wrapped up his career at Alfred State as the lacrosse program's all-time leading scorer. He finishes his four years with 155 goals and 207 points. For his success on the field this year, he was selected 1st team All-AMCC this year. In the classroom, Johnson holds a 3.97 GPA in construction management.
