Roberts Joins Athletic Department Staff

Roberts Named Coordinator of Event Management & Equipment Services

Director of Athletics Jason Doviak has announced the hiring of Daniel Roberts as the Coordinator of Event Management and Equipment Services. Roberts was hired as part of the Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant that Alfred State was awarded earlier this summer.

"Daniel emerged from a strong pool of candidates as an individual with a tremendous desire to succeed and clearly articulated his interest in pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics. His passion and experience prepares him well for this role and we are excited that he is joining our staff. Daniel will have a unique opportunity to be immediately involved with both NCAA and Conference business discussions along with serving on our senior leadership team.  He will also work directly with our Chief Diversity Officer and Title IX Coordinator, Nikkie Herman, to discuss various topics and further understand the importance of her role on our campus."

Roberts is excited about the opportunity. "It's an honor and privilege to be joining the athletic administration staff at Alfred State. I want to thank the athletic director and the athletic administration for believing in me. I am excited to be part of a premier college in athletics in New York. My expectations for this position are to continue to grow as an efficient leader in athletics, assist Alfred State with continuous growth in Division III, assist with the continuous growth of diversity and inclusion, and provide a positive experience for the community in Alfred, NY and nearby towns."

Roberts comes to Alfred State after serving as a graduate assistant within the University of Buffalo's facilities and event management department. In that position he helped manage the staffing, crowd management, and operations of athletic events. Previously at the University of Buffalo, Roberts was a recreation and operation assistant (2012-2014) and was a ticket service representative (2008-20012). Other related jobs include working at the University of Pennsylvania as a recreation operation supervisor, working in the championship village at the World Junior Championship in Buffalo, and working as an assistant program director at YMCA Summer Camps. 

He has a bachelor's degree in media studies from the University at Buffalo, a master's degree in sports administration from Canisius, and is currently pursuing a doctorate degreee in sport administration and management from Concordia University - Chicago.

The Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant is designed to provide financial assistance to the division's member schools and conferences that are committed to enhancing ethnic minority and gender representation in entry-level, intercollegiate athletics administrative positions
