Football: 4-6, 2-3 ECFC

Alfred State scored 14 unanswered points in the 4th quarter as they rallied to defeat SUNY Maritime 21-17 in their season finale.

The Pioneers trailed 17-7 with under 11 minutes left in the game. Rylie Van Fleet (Maine Endwell) got the rally going when they returned a punt 75-yards for a score to cut the lead to just one possession. With 3:13 left in the game, Jeremiah Nixon (Staten Island/Curtis) recovered a fumble to give Alfred State one last chance. Jake Palmer capped a 41-yard drive and dove in from one-yard out to give the blue & gold a 21-17 lead with 1:20 left. The defense allowed one first down but didn't give up anything else as they sealed the victory.

Dashown Wilson (Bronx/DeWitt Clinton) finished 10 for 22 for 195 yards and a score to go along with 88 yards rushing on 21 carries. Andrew Thomas (Bronx/Erasmus Hall) recorded his first 100-yard game of his career finishing with six catches for 101 yards. Shy'rel Broadwater (Cicero North Syracuse) had three catches for 90. Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua) led the defense with 11 tackles. He also helped convert a big 4th down with a 22-run on a fake punt. Van Fleet and Nixon each had seven tackles and a fumble recovery.

The Pioneers finish the season with a 4-6 overall record and a 2-3 mark in ECFC play. The four victories were the most in a season since 2013.
