Fitzgerald and Shaulis Named Athletes of the Week

Sophomore wrestler Kyle Fitzgerald (South Lewis) and sophomore basketball player Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.

Fitzgerald finished 3rd at 285 after a 4-1 day at the ECWC Championships. He opened the day with a pin of Samuel Berger (Oneonta) in 1:11. He advanced to the semifinals with a 7-2 win over Zach Herbert (Cortland). He dropped into the consolation break after fall in the semis but was able to get to the 3rd place match by defeating teammate Jacob DeWall. In the 3rd place match, he defeated Herbert for the second time, 5-1, to register the teams highest finish.

Shaulis was hot from the outside this week. She was 9 for 20 behind the three-point arc on the week and scored 18 points vs. Medaille and another 11 points vs. Pitt Greensburg. She also grabbed eight rebounds.
