Division 3 Week Q&A with Mike Galton

Division 3 Week Q&A with Mike Galton

By: Josh Romero, Athletic Communications Intern

As a part of the 2022 Division III Week from April 4-10, Alfred State Athletics will be unveiling a Q&A to highlight with some Pioneers who embody the ideals of a Division III student-athlete.

  1. Why did you choose Alfred State/Division III?

I chose Alfred because the Construction Management program would allow me to excel in my field at a faster rate.

  1. How does being a Division III student-athlete better prepare you in life?

Being a student-athlete allows me to not only become a better leader but also to be able to work on my multitasking skills. Being a Division III student-athlete has helped me to manage my time better and not procrastinate assignments. It has helped me become not just better at managing myself but will correlate to becoming a construction manager.

  1. What will you (or do you) miss the most about Alfred State/ your team?

I will miss the bond that I have created with my fellow colleagues and teammates. There is just something about the college grind in the classroom and on the mat that gives me an incentive to become a better person.

  1. What is your favorite memory so far at Alfred State.

My favorite memory at Alfred State would probably have to be weekends with the boys.

  1. What advice would you give incoming freshmen?

Some tips I have for incoming freshman would have to be is to go out and have fun and to not be sucked up inside the dorms. I have met plenty of people here that not only become my friends but business partners in the future. Make yourself comfortable being uncomfortable and the pursuit to happiness will become much simpler.
