The Alfred State College Western Equestrian Club is a club focused on facilitating the education of Alfred State College students in the study of horses and horsemanship through the provision of opportunities to learn about, care for, and ride horses. Our primary focus is for social interaction for anyone who enjoys horses, regardless of experience, from beginner with no experience to advanced (actual interaction with horses is not required, although strongly encouraged).

Providing opportunities for all students to cheer at a competitive level boost school morale and be involved in on campus atmosphere.

This fencing club will provide students with the opportunity to learn about and practice classic fencing. Fencing allows students to experience a comfortable yet competitive environment that fosters friendships and confidence.

The martial arts program operates exclusively on the State University campus, with emphasis on mind and body conditioning and self defense.  The open approach of the Modern Arnis system, combined with karate and Aiki Jujutsu offers a community atmosphere for all levels of experience and martial arts background.

Instruction is provided in a safe and healthy environment, where a student will learn martial arts techniques that are first simple and easy to learn and then gradually becoming more advanced as the student's abilities are developed.  Achievement in belt color is determined at a rate selected by the student.

Instruction will focus on the physical principles of  martial arts; blocking, striking, beginner and advanced self defense and stick fighting.  The application of these basic movements will be learned in actual sparring and situational self defense.
