Hunt Seat 1st Semester Update

The Alfred State Hunt Seat Team has had another successful semester as they competed in a total of four shows. Led by captain Danielle Ver Plank, the team earned a total of nine ribbons while showing at Cornell University (twice), Rochester Institute of Technology, and Nazareth College.

Riders earning ribbons include Teaghan Mix, Anne Downs, Raean Paryz, Danielle Pederson, and Danielle Ver Plank.

Team adviser Mallory Morehouse said, “It has been great to see this group come together as a team. They have not only grown in size, but continue to show well against much larger programs. It is great that we are able to have this opportunity for our students at Alfred State.”

The Hunt Seat Team is looking forward to their upcoming spring season, and are excited to be showing in our own backyard at the Alfred University Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center on February 16 and 24.

Meet by Meet Results

October 21: Cornell University: With many upsets for a lot of teams at this show, we were able to pull one good ribbon from this show. Teaghan Mix, freshman, received a 4th place in beginner WTC.

October 27-28: RIT: As the show season began to progress, we reached our first double header of the year. These shows showed more progress. On October 27th, Anne Downs, freshman, received a 1st place in Novice flat. On October 28th, Raean Paryz received a 1st in advanced WTC and Danielle Pederson received a 4th place in beginner WTC.

November 4: Cornell University: For the second time at Cornell, we had a very stressful day due to multiple events happening. Out of this Danielle Ver Plank was still able to pull a 4th place finish in Intermediate over fences.

November 17-18: Nazareth College: At our second double header of the season, we ended with some good ribbons. On day one, Raean Paryz received a 3rd place in advanced WTC. Danielle Pederson received a 3rd as well but in beginner WTC. On day two, we ran into some last minute horse changes and the highest ribbons of the day were Danielle Ver Plank with a 5th place in Intermediate over fences and Danielle Pederson receiving a 5th as well in beginner WTC.
