Big 5th Inning Lifts Generals

The Alfred State baseball team fell 9-1 to Washington & Lee (Lexington, VA) as they wrapped up their spring break trip.

The blue & gold got on the board first in the 3rd inning when Austin Baker (Canisteo Greenwood) singled and scored on a two-out triple by Cullen Franz

The Generals tied it right up in the bottom half of the inning when Anderson Baldy connected on a solo homer over the left field fence. 

In the 5th, the Generals took their first lead of the day with a five run inning. The inning featured four hits, two bunt singles, and two Pioneer errors. Kyle Ruedisili drew a bases loaded walk, Matt Wasson hit a sac fly, Chadwick Feeley drove in two with a RBI single, and Ryan Weston capped the inning with a RBI single.

The Generals added two runs in the 7th on RBI single by Ryan Monson and a RBI double by Cory Paton. In the 8th, Feeley hit a sac fly to add to the lead.

Thomas Shofi (Carmel) was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 4. The blue & gold collected seven hits on the day but was 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position. Garrett Mack (Avon) was tossed the first 4.2 innings allowing four hits and only one earned run.
Paton finished 3 for 4 with a RBI to pace the Generals nine-hit attack. Feeley drove in three runs and Brian Morgan came out of the pen and earned the win with 2.2 innings of two hits work.
The Pioneers have a week off before heading to Fisher College (Boston, MA) for a four-game series with the Falcons.
