DuBois Trips Up Pioneers

A four-run 4th inning lifted Penn State DuBois over Alfred State on Wednesday evening. 

Thomas Shofi (Carmel) hit a two-run homer in the 1st to give the Pioneers the early lead. The game remained 2-0 until the 4th when DuBois scored four unearned runs. They added a single run in the 5th but the Pioneers answered with a Danny Doran (Irondequoit) RBI single. Lucas Cornell (Alfred Almond) collected a RBI single in the 7th to cut it to 6-4 but the Lions scored two in the bottom half of the inning and another in the 8th. Cornell collected his second RBI single in the 9th.

Cornell was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Shofi's homer was his second of the season.

For DuBois, Colton Treas was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI while Talon Falls was 2 for 5 with a RBI.

The Pioneers are slated to play D'Youville on Sunday in their home opener. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
