Pioneers Continue to Roll

The Alfred State baseball team defeated Penn State DuBois 10-4 on Wednesday evening as they won their third straight.

With the game tied 1-1 heading into the 5th the Pioneers put together two big innings to take control of the game. They scored four in the 5th and five in the 6th.

Lucas Cornell (Alfred Almond) was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI to lead the offense while David Zuber (Honeoye Falls Lima) was also 3 for 5. Nick Geyer (Newburgh Free Academy) also collected multiple hits finishing 2 for 5. The Pioneers drew nine walks and were hit by two pitches.

On the mound, Rafael Perozo (Bronx/St. Raymond) came out of the pen and earned the victory. He allowed three hits, one earned run, and three walks while striking out three in five innings of work.

The blue & gold travel to Elmira tomorrow for a 4 p.m. contest at Historic Dunn Field.
