In the opener, which was the continuation of a suspended game from April 11th, the Pioneers started the day with a 5-1 lead in the top of the 3rd. On the 11th, Nick Geyer (Newburgh Free Academy) hit a RBI single and Thomas Shofi (Carmel) connected on a grand slam in the 2nd to give the Pioneers the lead before the field became unplayable due to the rain.

Today, Penn College got right back in the game in the 3rd with three runs keyed by a 2-RBI double by Evan Vigna. They took the lead in the 4th with three more runs in the 4th keyed by a 2-RBI single by Cole Hoffman.

Rafael Perozo (Bronx/St. Raymond) hit a RBI single in the 4th and Cullen Franz (Cazenovia) scored on an error to tie it at 7-7. The Wildcats regained the lead right back in the 5th with an unearned run but the Pioneers took back the lead for good with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the 6th.

In the nightcap, the Wildcats used a three-run 3rd inning to break a 3-3 tie. In the deciding inning Penn College didn't collect a hit and took advantage of three Pioneer errors.

PC jumped to a 3-0 lead with three in the 2nd but the Pioneers tied it right up in the 3rd when David Zuber (Honeoye Falls Lima) hit a RBI groundout and Franz lifted a 2-RBI triple.

Shofi was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 4. Lucas Cornell (Alfred Almond) went the distance on the mound allowing six hits and only one earned run. He walked two and struck out one.

The Pioneers wrap up the 2017 season on Tuesday when they host D'Youville in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
