Franz and Shofi Named USCAA All-Americans

Alfred State senior Cullen Franz (Cazenovia) and junior Thomas Shofi (Carmel) have been named USCAA All-Americans. Franz was a 1st team selection and Shofi was 2nd team.

Franz led the Pioneers with a .395 batting average (49 for 124) in 39 games. He collected 11 doubles, five triples, and nine homers. He drove in 25 runs, scored 45 runs, and stole 11 bases. He finished the year with a .519 on-base percentage and had a slugging percentage of .782.

In 15 games he collected multiple hits and he had multiple RBI in eight games. In the first game versus Rutgers-Newark in Myrtle Beach, SC, he collected was 2 for 4 with 2 homers and 4 RBI. He collected three hits vs. Emory & Henry (twice), Fisher College, RIT, and Hilbert.

For his four-year career he has played in 146 games (142 starts) and is a career .335 hitter. He collected 24 doubles, 18 triples, 11 homers, and 95 RBI.

Shofi repeats as an USCAA All-American (1st team selection last season) after hitting .350 in 34 games this season. He collected 10 doubles, three homers, and 25 RBI. He had a .438 on-base percentage and a .513 slugging percentage.

He had 14 multi-hit games on the season and collected multiple RBI in seven games. He was 2 for 3 with a season high 4 RBI in game one vs. Penn College and drove in three twice (Fisher College and Hilbert).

During his two years at Alfred State, Shofi is a .377 hitter with 28 doubles, two triples, and five homers. He has driven in 50 and scored 51 times.

The Pioneers won six of their last eight games and finished the season with a 10-30 overall record.
