Franz Earns More Honors

Alfred State senior outfielder Cullen Franz (Cazenovia) has added three more postseason honors. Franz recently has earned honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), D3Baseball.com, and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Franz led the Pioneers with a .395 batting average (49 for 124) in 39 games. He collected 11 doubles, five triples, and nine homers. He drove in 25 runs, scored 45 runs, and stole 11 bases. He finished the year with a .519 on-base percentage and had a slugging percentage of .782.

For his four-year career he played in 146 games (142 starts) and is a career .335 hitter. He collected 24 doubles, 18 triples, 11 homers, and 95 RBI.

Franz was named ABCA/Rawlings New York All-Region 3rd team. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA DIII All-America Committee.

He was a 2nd team D3Baseball.com selection. This is the sixth year D3Baseball.com has announced All-Region teams. 800 players were nominated and the ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region, as well as D3baseball.com staff and contributors.

Franz was also a 2nd team All-ECAC selection. Players are nominated by conference offices and SIDs.

Earlier this postseason, Franz was named a 1st team USCAA All-American and the Player of the Year by the Association of Division III Independents.
