Laurie Collects Two Hits Again

Josh Laurie (LeRoy) collected two hits for the second straight day as Alfred State played their first game at the Gene Cusic Classic. Bethel (MN) University used three big innings to improve to 8-1 with a 19-3 victory.

Laurie led off the game with a double and scored when the Royals made a two-out error.The Royals tied it right up in the bottom of the 1st with a Joey Frederickson single. The game remained 1-1 until the 4th when Bethel put together their first 5-run inning. They added another run in the 5th before Lucas Cornell (Alfred Almond) hit a sac fly in the top of the 6th to make it 7-2. The Royals scored five runs in the 6th and five more in the 7th to put the game out of reach. After a RBI single by David Zuber (Honeoye Falls Lima) in the 8th, Bethel capped the scoring with two more in the 8th.

Laurie finished 2 for 4 to lead the Pioneers.

Sam Horner, Bo Losdahl, and Austin Ledin all were 3 for 4 for Bethel. Horner drove in three while Losdahl drove in two. The Royals collected 21 hits in the contest.

The blue & gold play a split doubleheader on Wednesday. They take on Newbury at Noon and New York University at 3 p.m.
