Baseball Predicted 7th in Preseason Poll

Baseball Predicted to Finish 7th in AMCC

The Alfred State baseball team has been predicted to finish 7th in the preseason AMCC Coaches Poll. 2019 marks the second year the Pioneers have been a member of the AMCC in baseball.

Six-time AMCC baseball champion, La Roche College, is once again expected to defend their league title, according to league coaches. Penn State Behrend is likely to take the second spot, while 2018 runner-up Pitt-Greensburg is expected to round out the top three. Pitt-Bradford, Penn State Altoona, Mount Aloysius sit ahead of Alfred State in the poll. While Hilbert, Medaille, and D'Youville round out the selections.

AMCC play begins in late March with each team in the league scheduled for a doubleheader (1-9 inning game and 1-7 inning game). The AMCC tournament, top six teams, will begin with first round play on May 4-5, followed by the championship round May 9-11 at the site of the number one seed. The winner will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.

Pitt-Bradford senior catcher Austin Parent is the 2019 AMCC Preseason Player of the Year while La Roche junior pitcher Tre Thomas is the 2019 AMCC Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

The Pioneers finished the 2018 season 12-27 overall and 7-11 in AMCC play.

The blue & gold are slated to open up the 2019 season on March 23rd when they take on Muhlenberg and Brockport at Monogalia County Ballpark in Granville, WV.
