Burdett, Lansing Named AMCC All-Tournament as Pioneers Finish Season at AMCC Championships

The No. 3 seed Alfred State baseball team lost in a rematch to the No. 2 seed Mount Aloysius in the semifinal game of the AMCC championship tournament on Saturday.

Brody Burdett (Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon) and Owen Lansing (Lyncourt/Solvay) were named to the AMCC All-Tournament team.

The Pioneers (21-22) recorded 11 hits, 10 runs, 9 RBIs and 3 errors.

The Mounties (25-13) had 19 hits, 16 runs, 14 RBIs and 2 errors.

Pioneer Leaders:

Burdett went 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI.

Matteo Avallone (Mahopac/Bridgton Academy) went 2-for-4 with 2 runs.

Sam Dickerson (Cutchogue/Mattituck) went 2-for-5 with 5 RBIs including a 3 run homer.

Lansing went 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs and 1 run.

What Happened:

The Mounties took a 10-0 lead after scoring three in the first, three in the second and four in the fourth.

In the top of the fifth Lansing hit a single up the middle to plate Burdett and Avallone.

Mount Aloysius recorded three more runs in the fifth.

In the top of the sixth Gavin Moore (Hilton) scored off a sacrifice fly from Nick Serce (Irondequoit) and Jack Curabba (Shohola, Pa/Delaware Valley) scored off a single from Burdett.

The Mounties score one run in the sixth.

Lansing scored off an error in the seventh and Dickerson hit his three-run homer in the top of the eighth to plate Devin Mersmann (Arcade/Pioneer) and Burdett.

Mount Aloysius scored two more in the eighth.

In the top of the ninth Dickerson singled to right field to bring home Mersmann and Avallone.

Pioneer Pitching:

Jack Josephson (Penfield) (L, 6-2) pitched 4 innings and allowed 15 hits, 13 runs and struck out 3.

Jon White (Clarence) pitched 1.2 innings and allowed 2 hits, 1 run, walked 1 and struck out 1.

Josh Van Bramer (Fairport) pitched 1.1 innings and struck out 1.     

Connor Hong (Rochester/Gates Chili) pitched 0.1 inning and allowed 1 hit, 2 runs and walked 1.

Nick Serce (Irondequoit) pitched 1.0  inning and allowed 1 hit and walked 1.
