Pioneers Lose in Opening AMCC Tournament Game

Today the Pioneers faced off against Hilbert today in thefirst game of the AMCC Championship tournament. The Pioneers suffered an 8-6 loss and are set to face Penn.- St. Behrend in an elimination game at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12. 

The game was 0-0 until the 4th inning when a single from Jack Curabbe scored Nick Serce who hit a leadoff triple. The Pioneers scored three more in the 5th inning to take a 4-0 lead. Alfred State stretched their lead to 6-0 in the 6th. Hilbert came back to score 8 unanswered runs against the Pioneers in the final innings securing the comeback victory. Hilbert plays Penn.- St. Altoona at 1 p.m. for a spot in the AMCC Championship game.

Ryan Bailey threw 7 strong innings for Alfred State. He tallied 4 strikeouts and only allowed 5 basehits.
