Pioneers Earn Reserve High Point Honors
The Alfred State Western Equestrian team made an impressive showing at their IHSA season opener at the Alfred University Equestrian Center on Saturday. 12 Alfred State riders earned top three finishes on the day.
In the morning show, the Pioneers walked away as the reserve hi-point team. They were led by a strong showing in intermediate horsemanship. Kirstin Reynolds (Portville) was 1st, Sarah Czelusta (Pioneer) and Hannah Schaus (Pioneer) earned 2nd place finishes, and Jamie Fredenburg (Fabius Pompey) finished 3rd. Rachel McNeal (Waverly) was 3rd in open reining and Brianna Lasecki (Newark) was 3rd in beginner horsemanship.
Newcomers Kathleen Crandon (Webster Thomas) and Meagan Castoro (Syosset) both earned 1st place finishes in the afternoon show. Crandon for intermediate and Castoro for beginner. McNeal was 2nd in open horsemanship, Czelusta was 2nd in intermediate, and Fredenburg was 3rd in intermediate.
The blue & gold were competing against Alfred University, Cornell, SUNY Brockport and RIT.
The Pioneers return to action on December 2nd when they compete again at Alfred University.
