Equestrian Wins Two Reserve Hi-Point Honors

The Alfred State Western Equestrian team earned two reserve hi-point team honors during their competition on Saturday at Alfred University.

The morning show resulted in a pair of 1st place ribbons. Kathleen Crandon (Webster Thomas) won in intermediate completion and Katelynn Lawson (Clyde Savannah) won in beginner. Rachel McNeal (Elmira/Waverly) was 2nd in open reining and Kirstin Reynolds (Portville) was 2nd in intermediate). Rachel von Hagn (Bath) was 3rd in novice while Hannah Schaus (Arcade) was 3rd in intermediate.

The afternoon show featured five victories for the Pioneers. Alyssa Beardsley (Letchworth) won in advanced, Caylen Bedow (Fillmore), Jamie Fredenburg (Fabius Pompey) and Reynold all won intermediate competition, and Meagan Castoro (Syosset) won in beginner. von Hagn was 2nd in advanced and Crandon was 2nd in intermediate. McNeal was 3rd in open reining, Sarah Czelusta (Pioneer) was 3rd in novice, and Brianna Lasecki )Newark) was 3rd in beginner.

With their strong performances, von Hagn, Czelusta, and Reynolds have earned the points necessary to qualify for Regionals.

The Pioneers are back in action at Alfred University on January 27th.
