Scouting the Pioneers:

  • The Pioneers trailed 14-0 early to Gallaudet last weekend during the college's homecoming weekend. The team battled back to 14-13 with just three minutes left in the 1st half but never could get much more offense going the rest of the way. Eli Frantz was 17 for 23 for 169 yards and two scores while Kiegan Brown rushed for 105 yards and a score on 13 carries. John Lauretti led the team with eight tackles and two sacks.
  • The Pioneers offense had their most productive day of the season finishing with 336 yards (181 rushing) and 17 1st downs.
  • Kiegan Brown recorded his second straight 100-yard game and is the first Pioneer to achieve the feat since the end of the 2014 season.
  • The blue & gold have started off slow all season. The team has been outscored 70-0 in the 1st quarter - A good start will be key vs. the AMCATS.
  • John Lauretti and Carlisle Philip got to the quarterback last week and combined on two sacks. Lauretti has been a part of all four the the team's sacks this season and has 10.5 tackles for a loss.
  • Forcing turnovers or creating a big play on special teams will be key this week. The AMCATS have turned the ball over 14 times in their first six games. Look for Austin Parker, Jamal Little, or William Greffin to make a big play that could change momentum.

  • Emmanuel Leake is a dual threat at quarterback for the AMCATS. He has thrown for 707 yards and leads the team with 70 yards rushing.
  • Anna Maria's rushing attack has only 338 net yards on the season while their passing attack has accumulated 1,155. Trai Weaver is by far the most popular receiver. He has 35 of the team's 86 receptions for 561 yards and six scores.
