Balanced Attack Leads Husson Over Pioneers

Alfred State led 14-13 early in the 2nd quarter but two-time defending ECFC champion Husson scored 43 unanswered points to down the Pioneers 56-14. Husson improves to 3-0 in ECFC play and 4-2 overall.

Husson scored two quick touchdown on passes from Cory Brandon. Brandon connected with Keyshaun Robinson on a 47-yard scoring play and then hit Kyle Gaudet on a 53-yard pass play 53 seconds later to make it 13-0.

Alfred State responded with a 69-yard drive capped off by a six-yard touchdown pass from Dashown Wilson (Bronx/DeWitt Clinton) to Jalen Long (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) to make it 13-7. The Pioneer defense came up with a goal line stand and then forced a fumble to set up a 80-yard drive that once again finished with a connection between Wilson and Long. The seven-yard pass play tied it up and the extra point by Ryan Shipherd (Randolph) gave Alfred State the lead.

The lead was short lived as Ty Bassett returned the ensuing kickoff 82 yards for a score (two-point conversion was good) to give the Eagles a lead they would never relinquish. Miece Loureiro scored from two-yards out and Robinson caught a 16-yard scoring pass from Brandon to make it 35-14 at half.

Loureiro scored from three-yards out and Robinson caught a 43-yard touchdown pass from Brandon in the 3rd quarter while Jordan Marcano caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from David Morrison in the 4th to account for the 2nd half points.

Long recorded his 5th 100-yard receiving game of the season. He caught nine passes for 169 yards and two scores. Darrius Nichols (Brooklyn/South Shore) caught five passes for 115 yards and Kiegan Brown (Cortland) caught three passes for 64 yards. Wilson finished with 238 yards passing.

Brandon was 17 for 19 for 303 yards and four scores while Loureiro rushed for 131 yards and two scores on 23 carries. Robinson caught four passes for 119 yards and three scores while Gaudet finished with six catches for 97 yards and a score. Husson finished with 739 yards of offense.
