Six Pioneers Named All-ECFC

Six members of the Alfred State football team have been selected to All-Eastern Collegiate Football Conference team. Jalen Long (Rochester/Bishop Kearney), John Lauretti (Seaford), and Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua) were 1st team selections, Ronnie Clark (Philadelphia/Indian River) and Jevon Jeremy (New Orleans, LA / Dunbar) were 2nd team honorees, and Devon Clark (Perrysburg/Gowanda) was named honorable mention.

Long, a junior receiver, had a record breaking season. He caught 56 passes for 1,020 yards and seven scores. He recorded more than 100 yards in six games and his total of receptions and yards are new records. He is also the first Pioneer in program history to eclipse the 1,000 yard receiving mark.

Lauretti capped his career with 70 tackles (32 solo) and 8.5 sacks (5.5 in the final two games). He recorded 17 tackles for a loss of 80 yards, forced three fumbles, and recovered one fumble. He finishes his four-year career wearing the blue & gold with 260 total tackles and 20.5 sacks.

Zimmerman had a solid junior campaign. He led the team with 76 total tackles (43 solo) and three interceptions. He also forced two fumbles and recovered one. On top of his defensive back duties he averaged 34.4 yards on 48 punt attempts. He had nine punts inside the 20, eight over 50-yards, and a long of 61 yards.

Ronnie Clark had an impressive freshman campaign. He rushed for 711 yards and six scores on the year. He averaged 4.3 yards per carry and 71.1 yards per game.

Jeremy and Clark,started all ten games on the offensive line for the blue & gold and were key in helping the Pioneers gain nearly 90 more yards per game this season. The Pioneers also gave up four less sacks in 2018 compared to 2017. Clark was honored with a 2nd team All-ECFC selection last year.

The awards were voted on by the league's seven coaches.
