Alfred State Falls Under the Lights

The Alfred State Football team played a night game at Pioneer Stadium against University of Rochester. The Pioneers lost a close battle falling 17-30.

The team fell early in a back-and-forth defensive battle, down ten points at halftime 3-13. The Pioneers surrendered only a field goal in the third quarter, putting them down 3-16. Alfred State landed a huge play in the fourth, a 40-yard pass from QB Jimmy Brush (Kerhonkson, NY/ Rondout) to Ben Ba (Harlem, NY/ Park East) for a 58-yard touchdown. The play cut the lead to six points, making it 16-10.

Silas Egenlauf (Spencerport, NY/ Spencerport) led the Pioneer defense with seven solo tackles, totaling 13 for the game. Along with Egenlauf, Jeremiah Nixon (Staten Island, NY/ Curtis) had 1.5 tackles for a loss, and an interception by Max Gomes (Delaware, NY/ Mahopac) was a spark in the Pioneer defensive secondary.

A nine-yard touchdown run by Josh Graham (Hilton, NY/ Hilton) accounted for the other Pioneer touchdown.

Alfred State Football is back in action in their first road game of the year. They travel to Husson for a noon kickoff.
