Pioneers Fall to Gallaudet

The Alfred State Football team lost today's game against Gallaudet 36-22. In the last home game of the season, the Pioneers honored five senior student-athletes.

Anthony Allen (Staten Island, NY / New Dorp): A defensive back from Staten Island, NY. Allen is a 5-year member of the football team and a two-year starter. Allen was an all-conference selection in 2021. He will graduate in May with a degree in Sport Management.

Esaias Brumfield (Warners, NY / West Genesee): A defensive back from Warners, NY. Brumfield is a 4-year member of the football team. Brumfield will graduate in May with a degree in Sport Management.

Caleb Maier (Livonia, NY / Livonia): An offensive lineman from Livonia NY. Maier is a 5-year member of the football team and a two-year starter. Maier was an all-conference selection in 2021. Maier will graduate in May with a degree in construction management.

Roman Napoleon (Allegany, NY / Allegany Limestone): A wide receiver from Allegany, NY. Napoleon is a 4-year member of the football team and A two-year starter. Napoleon was an all-conference selection in 2021. Napoleon's 1,712 career receiving yards are the most for any Pioneer in the NCAA era. Napoleon will graduate in December with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Trevor Porzucek (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville Manlius): A tight end from Manlius, NY, Porzucek is a 4-year member of the football team. Today has marked Porzucek's 9 consecutive appearance in the starting line-up. Porzucek will graduate in May with a degree in Construction Supervision.


The Pioneers found themselves up early, after scoring on their opening drive. Justin Horvath (Grand Island, NY / Grand Island) scored on a 29-yard designed run to put Alfred State up 7-0. Gallaudet answered quickly, scoring two rushing touchdowns and forcing an Alfred State safety.

Jake Palmer (Albany, NY / Voorheesville) scored a touchdown in the second quarter, bringing the Pioneers back within two points at 15-13.

Gallaudet tacked on three more touchdowns throughout the game, making the score 36-13 late in the fourth. The Pioneers scored their final touchdown on a Ben Ba (Harlem, NY / Park East) reception with 4 minutes remaining in the game. Ba had 6 receptions on the day, tallying 91 yards.

Gallaudet rushed for 356 yards and scored all their offensive touchdowns on the ground. Brandon Washington was the rushing leader for the Bison, going for 228 yards on 23 attempts. He accounted for two-thirds of Gallaudet's yards on the ground. The Gallaudet Bison have clinched the ECFC regular season title with the win, and will head to the NCAA tournament hoping to continue their success in postseaon play.

Danny Browning (Eden, NY / Saint Francis High School) and Silas Egenlauf (Spencerport, NY / Spencerport) were the tackle leaders for Alfred State defense, each tallying six solo tackles and eight total on the day. Rylie Van Fleet (Endwell, NY / Maine Endwell) also had six tackles with two for a loss.

The Pioneers are back in action again next week as they finish off the regular season schedule. They travel to Maritime for a noon match-up on Saturday, November 12.
