Team Effort Leads Pioneers by Wells

The Alfred State men's basketball team got solid contributions from all of their starting lineup as they were able to down Wells 84-67 on Tuesday evening.

The Pioneers led for most of the game (36:15). They led 39-29 at the half after shooting 53.3%. In the 2nd half, they expanded their lead to as many as 17 as they continued their hot shooting (56.7%).

Tahaij Lewis (Rochester/Greece Olympia) had a monster game with 27 points (13 for 18 from the field) and 18 rebounds (14 defensive) to lead the way for blue & gold. Kevin Goode (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) finished with 15 points (3 for 5 from three) and Josh Reding (Rochester/Spencerport) added 12 (3 for 5 from three). Owen Spencer (Perry) had an all around solid game finishing with seven points, 10 rebounds, and five assists while Juwan Toliver (Buffalo/McKinley) had five points and six assists. Dru Carnevale (Clyde Savannah) and Marcus Rhett (Middletown) each had seven points off the bench.

Rich Ross led the Express with 21 points before fouling out. Jalen Tribble finished with 19 as Wells shot 41.7% for the game.

Alfred State finished the game shooting 55% from the field, 47.4% (9 for 19) from three, and 56.3% from the foul line. They also held a 44 to 32 advantage on the boards.

The Pioneers are in action again on Friday when they play in day one action of the Alfred Tournament. The Pioneers will take on Bryant & Stratton - Buffalo at 7 p.m. The game will take place after Alfred University takes on Bryant & Stratton - Rochester at 5 p.m.
