Gentile Nets a Career High 36

Ryan Gentile (Spencerport) had a career high 36 points but Alfred State fell 96-84 in a high scoring AMCC contest vs. Hilbert. The contest was the final game for the Pioneers in 2019.

The contest featured four ties and four lead changes in the first seventeen minutes. The game was tied at 40-40 with 2:45 left before the Hawks went on a 9-2 run to head into the break with a 49-42 lead. Hilbert pushed the lead to 15 early in the 2nd half and never let the Pioneers back within eight.

Gentile was 11 for 21 from the field for the game. He connected on six of ten 3-point attempts and was 8 for 9 from the line. He also grabbed eight boards and had three steals. Josh Reding (Spencerport) had a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists. 

Masia Phillips led five Hawks in double figures with 21 points. He also pulled down nine boards. Lazar Jovanovich finished with 18, Ant Moynihan had 14, and Hunter Martineau and Jon Evans both had 11. Martineau also passed out 13 assists, grabbed seven boards, and had four steals.

Alfred State shot 41.1% from the field for the game, was 9 for 23 from three, and 15 for 19 from the foul line. Hilbert shot 50.7% from the field, hit 10 of 20 three pointers, and was 18 for 25 from the line. Hilbert had a slight 43 to 39 advantage on the boards.

The Pioneers open up play in 2020 on January 2nd when they travel to RIT for a 3 p.m. contest with the Tigers.
