Five Pioneers Score in Double Digits in Medaille Win

Five members of the Alfred State men's basketball team scored in double digits as the Pioneers defeated the Medaille College Mavericks 95-73 Wednesday evening inside the Kevin I. Sullivan Campus Center.

Alfred State improves to 6-8 overall and 2-4 in the AMCC after shooting a 54.1% field goal percentage, 61.5% in three-pointers, picking up 41 rebounds and recording 12 assists.

Josh Reding (Spencerport) recorded his second consecutive 20-point game and 13th game scoring in double figures. Reding went three-for-three in three-pointers and seven-for-eight in free throws, had seven rebounds and two steals.

Isaiah Kostyal (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) added 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. Donte Jones (Brooklyn/ Brooklyn Collegiate) had 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds, Basheem Wilkerson (Brooklyn/John Jay) posted 14 points and Paris Jamison (Brooklyn/East Side Community) had 11 points with three rebounds and three assists.

The Pioneers led 50-37 at halftime and took their largest lead of 22 points with 15:23 left in the second half. The Mavericks closed in and were nine points from the lead, but Alfred State went on an 11-point run to extend it back to 20 points and took it back to 22-points for the win.

The men are back in action Saturday, Jan. 15 when they host Pitt.-Greensburg in a conference game at 3 p.m.
