Pioneers Drop First Conference Contest

The Alfred State Men's Basketball team traveled to Penn.- St. Altoona and fell 104-68. The Pioneers opened conference play against the pre-season favorite Lions.

Through the first ten minutes of the first half, the Pioneers kept the game close. Alfred State stayed within 8 points before falling behind 33-18. The Pioneers climbed back to make the score 39-31 with 5:48 left in the first. The Lions went on a 18-6 run to end the half and kept the lead through the rest of the game. Gus O'Connell (Cortland, NY / Bishop Grimes) was a key piece in the Pioneer first half, scoring ten points with three 3-pointers.

Paris Jamison (Brooklyn, NY / East Side) was the scoring leader for Alfred State with 12 points, Jamison also tallied four assists. Cody Schneider (Belmont, NY / Genesee Valley) had ten points and went 6-7 from the stripe. Schneider barely missed a double-double with nine boards.

Andruw Harman had a game-high 22 points for the Lions, going 10-14 from the field and knocking down two 3-pointers.

Alfred State continues their conference schedule, hosting Pitt.- Greensburg on Saturday January 7, at 1 p.m.
