Arresta Nets a Hat Trick vs. Dean

Dominic Arresta (Southampton) netted a hat trick as Alfred State battled Dean College in the consolation game of the Hampton Inn Bulldog Classic. Dean outscored the Pioneers 4-1 in both the 2nd and 3rd quarter en rout to the 12-5 victory.

In the 1st quarter each team found the back of the net once. Colin Hinrichs scored 1:34 into the contest before Nick Griffin (Penn Yan) scored with 3:13 remaining to tie it up. The Bulldogs scored the first three goals of the 2nd quarter in the first 2:52 to take a lead they would never give back up. Arresta would socre with 6:49 remaining in the half but the Pioneers never got any closer.

Dean led 5-2 at halftime and scored the next three goals of the 3rd quarter before Joe Johnson (Churchville) found the back of the net on a man-up opportunity with 4:25 remaining. Another 3-0 run by Dean made it 11-3 before Arresta scored from Griffin with 6:19 remaining. After a Collin Hinrichs fifth goal of the game, Arresta capped his hat trick with 2:45 left after getting another assist from Griffin.

Arresta finished with the hat trick while Griffin had a goal and two assists. Matt Cobb (Churchville) made six saves in net.

Hinrichs finished with five goals and two assists while Brody Fredericks chipped in three goals and three assists. Anthony Trasaacco added three goals and an assist while Madison Olsen made 16 saves.

The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to SUNY Canton for a 1 p.m. contest with the Roos.
