Balanced Attack Leads Wildcats Past Pioneers

Six Wildcats scored at least two goals as Cazenovia defeated Alfred State 22-6 on Monday afternoon. 

Cazenovia got the offense going fast as as they scored twice in the first 1:03 of the game. Alfred State got on the board on a goal by AJ Soto (Churchville) the Wildcats went on a big run to put the game out of reach. They led 7-2 after the first, 14-3 at half, and 21-4 after three.

Joe Johnson (Churchville) led the Pioneers with a hat trick while Soto finished with a pair of goals and an assist. Nic Covelli (Carmel) scored once while Eric Passeck (Thomaston, CT), and Tucker Sutphen (Brockport) had assists.

Nate Jacobs scored five goals and had two assists while Shea Ames scored four times and passed out three assists to lead Cazenovia. Joe Tim scored four times, Brock Post had three goals and an assist, and Connor Smith finished with two goals and four helpers.

Cazenovia outshot the Pioneers 64-27. Matt Cobb (Churchville) made 15 saves in net while the combination of Matt Deyette and Jared Hurlbutt combined for 10 saves.

The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Houghton College to take on the Highlanders at 7 p.m.
