Joe Johnson and Matt Cobb Named AMCC Athletes of the Week

Johnson and Cobb Earn AMCC Honors

Joe Johnson (Churchville) and Matt Cobb (Churchville) have been honored by the AMCC following solid weeks for Alfred State. Johnson was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Cobb was named the Defensive Player of the week as the Pioneers defeated Medaille 15-8 and Franciscan 14-4.

Johnson registered 15 points in a pair of victories this week for the Pioneers. He scored five goals and passed out three assists in a win over Medaille and then scored twice and passed out five helpers in a victory over Franciscan. He leads the team with 18 goals, nine assists, and 27 points.

Cobb earned a pair of victories in net. He made 12 saves and had a save percentage of 60% in a win over Medaille. He also made eight saves and had a 66.7% save percentage in a win over Franciscan. On the year, Cobb has made 87 saves.

The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Houghton for a 7 p.m. contest.
